Changing the macOS user full name.

Why should I change my macOS user's full name, you may ask? Normally, you haven't to do this. But I recently did it, because during installation of my macOS 15 VMware Workstation virtual machine, I misspelled my last name (pushing the "h" instead of the "g" key on my keyboard). The full user name has no real importance for the OS. What counts for macOS is the user name. But, on the login page, and where ever the full name is displayed, the "Aly Luthen" instead of "Aly Lutgen" looked too ugly for me to let it like that. That's why I decided to correct the misspelled name...

To do so, open System Settings and select Users & Groups. Then, right-click on your user name. This results in the display of a button labeled Advanced Options.

Note: Changing your macOS user name (i.e. your macOS account) is not so easy. In fact, you'll have first to create another account, that you'll use to do the changes, then you'll have to rename the home folder, and finally you'll be able to rename the user account. For details about this, please, have a look at the article Change the name of your macOS user account and home folder on Apple Support.
